Field & Street
One of two columns I was commissioned to write, “Field & Street” was about nature in the city. In the nineties, it ran every other week in the Chicago Reader. Generously, The Reader maintains a complete archive of those columns. Like the paper itself, the archive is free.
The other column was “Edge Effect” and ran in Chicago Wilderness Magazine, where later I was briefly editor-in-chief. But the magazine was made into something really great long before I got there, by Debra Shore.
